Project Description:

Lockhill Hall is a Grade II listed early 19th century country villa, situated on the old Exeter to Bath turnpike. The manor house is constructed from local blue lias, with the symmetrical South West and South East façades classically proportioned in the local Doulting stone, similar in appearance to Bath stone.

ArchiWest secured planning approval in 2025 to construct a large Wintergarden style extension with wine cellar, by extending to the rear of the property and infilling the 'L' shaped floor plan. The classical design utilises the stylistic and material elements of the existing house in a traditional form, which offers a large entertaining space. This flows out onto a raised sun terrace that will enjoy the far-reaching views past the ha-ha.

In addition to the Wintergarden extension a new Portico has also been designed and approved for the south east elevation, infilling the area where a Victorian greenhouse once stood. The Portico will also utilise the same classical detailing and material elements as the Wintergarden.

The structures will be constucted in a natural doulting stone, sourced locally and is due to commence in early 2026.
