SONIA HARVEY
Associate Director / Architectural Historian
IHBC, MA English Building Studies
Sonia joined ArchiWest in 2021, with a passionate interest in the preservation and conservation of historic buildings that started from a very early age through her father’s involvement with the Axbridge history & archaeology society.
Sonia completed a Masters degree in English Building History at the University of York and has an experienced background working with older and historic buildings, particularly locally in and around Somerset. Sonia regularly deep dives into the history of a building or place, producing heritage studies, carrying out map regressions and overseeing Listed Building restorations, with an eye for historic detail that's second to none.
Sonia is an avid member of the IHBC (Institute of Historic Building Conservation), the Axbridge archaeological & Local History Society, and the Churches Conservation Trust.
"The long-term care of old buildings requires a good sense of understanding of not only the past but also of the future and the legacy we leave to the following generations."
